BESTOW & CO POP-UP BOUTIQUE & WINE TASTING EVENT | SATURDAY MAY 11TH 1PM – 3PM

BESTOW & CO POP-UP BOUTIQUE & WINE TASTING EVENT | SATURDAY MAY 11TH 1PM – 3PM

Beautiful designer and vintage clothing. Wine & gourmet cheese. One afternoon. All for a good cause.

The Fine Wine Group are delighted to be partnering with the amazing women from Bestow & Co and Kerry one of our fab wine suppliers to bring you a special pop-up boutique & wine tasting event that will assist in raising funds for Lou’s Place, an organisation supporting women & their children.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the inspiring women behind Bestow & Co, Kylie & Lara, at a pop-up boutique where you will be able to buy direct off the rack the designer & vintage clothing & accessories the pair have lovingly curated. As you peruse the racks, enjoy a wine tasting run by Kerry and delicious gourmet cheese selected from Penny’s Cheese Shop.

What makes this event so special is that all profits will be going to a grassroots organisation supporting disadvantaged women & their children. We’re also encouraging all members and their guests to make donations of their own preloved designer & vintage clothing, shoes and accessories to Bestow & Co.  Simply drop off your donations during our event, or if you’re unable to make it, drop them off to any of our three Fine Wine stores any day of the week.  Our team will ensure your goodies get to Kylie & Lara so they can be repurposed in support of a very important cause.

We hope you can join us for this incredible afternoon run by women in support of women; an afternoon of shopping, wine & cheese and helping those less fortunate than us in our Tasting Room at Bayswater Fine Wines located at 77 Bayswater Road Rushcutters Bay.

Natural Wine | What is it? Why is it such a fast growing movement in the wine world?

Natural Wine | What is it? Why is it such a fast growing movement in the wine world?

Natural Wine is fast growing in popularity within the global wine community and we want to demystify all things natural wine and answer your questions about this alternative to traditional wine. Love it or hate it, it’s on the rise and worth knowing about so you can increase your wine knowledge and understand what it’s all about the next time you spot one on the wine list.
This April, the Fine Wine Group have a Members Special Wine Class event offering you the opportunity to explore, taste and delve into the world of natural wine during a relaxed night with paired cheese at our tasting table with fellow wine lovers.
Natural wine is typically made from handpicked grapes grown by smaller, independent producers using organic or biodynamic techniques to grow the fruit to allow for the purest fruitful flavour possible. The wine is fermented with no added yeast, and there are no additives or sulphites added, so the wine is made with little to no chemical and technological intervention. These natural processes are done to respect the environment and vine by avoiding harmful chemicals and practices, resulting in a unique fresh flavour.
On Wednesday April 10th join Australian winemaker and educator Tom Egan from Jed Wines as he guides you through 8 natural wines. Tom is an engaging facilitator with many years of experience and passion for wine, and we are very fortunate to have him lead this special event for you.

The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation

The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation

“For the first time in 16 long and too-lonely years I have someone to talk to. Now, I have friends. And a reason to keep going.”

Curtis’ battle with HIV isolated him for too many precious years. However, it was through the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation’s health and well-being program that Curtis was able to reach out and become connected, supported and healthy once again, transforming his life.

Australia’s longest running HIV charity has provided support and refuge to thousands of vulnerable people living with HIV over the last 34 years. It has become their mission to limit the challenging circumstances of such an unrelenting disease. Through providing direct financial and practical assistance, emotional support, financial counselling, housing, and study and employment support, the BGF helps people to find a new sense of hope and assistance to get back on their feet. This not-for-profit organisation ensures people from all walks of life living with HIV are welcomed into an open, safe and inclusive environment, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, religion or sexual orientation. Through responding to the diverging needs of their clientele, the BGF is constantly adapting to the changing face of HIV.

The foundation originated after the death of Bobby Goldsmith, one of the first AIDS related deaths in Australia. Bobby was an active member of the gay community as well as a respected Australian athlete and dearly loved son, brother, partner, friend and uncle. Although it has been 34 years since his death, HIV and the social stigmas attached are still present, despite being a virus that anyone can contract. The BGF are constantly working to reverse the physical and emotional damage inflicted by the unforgiving virus by addressing social isolation and economic poverty to allow for healthy living.

No one should have to face HIV alone. For the month of February during Mardi Gras Festival, we will have a donation tin at the counter to collect donations to this incredible organisation. Want to do more? You can also donate at: http://www.bgf.org.au/donate/give-now/

BESTOW & CO POP-UP BOUTIQUE COMING SOON…

For those of you who don’t already know, Bestow & Co was founded by Lara Esden & Kylie Dunn, and borne out of a strong desire to support grassroots women’s organisations and take their combined knowledge and experience in fashion, styling and working at the cold-face of community services to creating their own social enterprise. We featured them in a past newsletter, and you can read more about them here.

We are very excited to be hosting a pop-up boutique in our Fine Wine Room soon. Please stay posted via our FB & Insta feeds for exact date & time. This will be an opportunity where the girls from Bestow will bring their boutique offline where buyers can come and peruse amongst the racks, try things on, and engage face to face with Lara & Kylie. We will be holding a special wine tasting during the pop-up. Not to be missed!
